Menck (the German hydraulic-hammer specialist) is one of Ørsted's named contractors for the monopile installation campaign at Hornsea 3, alongside vessel-installer Cadeler. Ørsted publicly identified Menck as part of the contractor team on or around 14 May 2026 when announcing that the first of 197 XXL monopiles had been installed at the Hornsea 3 site, approximately 120 km off the coast of Norfolk in the UK sector of the North Sea. Menck's scope is the hydraulic pile-driving service supporting Cadeler's monopile-installation vessel Wind Ally (with sister vessel Wind Orca deployed for secondary structure installation works), driving the XXL monopiles into the seabed to support 14 MW (15 MW with power-boost) Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD turbines. The monopiles themselves are manufactured by Haizea Wind Group (Bilbao) and Dajin Heavy Industry (China). Installation of the remaining 196 monopiles is expected to continue through 2026 and into 2027 as part of the foundation installation campaign that began in late April 2026 per Ørsted's weekly Notice to Mariners. The campaign forms part of the construction of what is described as the largest single offshore wind farm in the world, with 2.9 GW installed capacity and expected operational date in 2027.
