Deep performed offshore survey and monitoring work at the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm for Vattenfall to support ongoing oversight of seabed conditions and subsea assets. The project objective was to provide high-resolution bathymetry and backscatter data to enable continuous monitoring of the seabed and scour conditions around the Inter Array Cable System (IAC), including assessment of depth of burial and seabed change over time. The campaign was executed using the multi-purpose survey vessel Miranda and included the planning of an efficient survey line plan in coordination with the client to manage operational risks associated with manoeuvring close to operating wind turbines. Deep reported that the data acquisition phase progressed efficiently and was completed in approximately two-thirds of the scheduled time. Deep’s stated service scope for the assignment covered marine geophysical site investigations and route surveys, hydrographic surveys, subsea cable and pipeline pre- and post-installation surveys, and depth of burial surveys. After data collection, Deep developed a custom tool to support the client’s depth-of-burial analysis by enabling comparison to confidential as-built datasets from 2021, extracting relevant information in an anonymised form for use in final charts. This work supported asset integrity and operational decision-making for the wind farm’s infield cable system.
