Fugro was awarded a geotechnical site investigation contract by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) covering the development of the Dutch Hollandse Kust (west) Site VIII offshore wind zone (alongside other Dutch zones in the same RVO campaign). The work formed part of the Dutch Government’s accelerated offshore wind development programme under the Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030, intended to provide developers with reliable ground and seabed data for early engineering and future tenders. Fugro’s scope comprised offshore geotechnical fieldwork and subsequent data processing, laboratory testing, and reporting. Specialist geotechnical vessels from Fugro’s fleet were scheduled to commence surveys in March 2023 and continue into the fourth quarter of 2023. The offshore investigations included seabed and subsurface characterisation using cone penetration test techniques and Fugro innovations such as the SEACALF® Mk V DeepDrive® system and WISON® Mk V Ecodrive. Fugro also provided a secure client-access data delivery platform to distribute the resulting geo-data. The outputs were intended to support preliminary engineering design studies for foundations and to inform later procurement, with the results made available to future bidders in the development tender process for Hollandse Kust (west) Site VIII. Subsequent reporting activities were expected to extend into 2024.
