Verlume was named by RWE and TotalEnergies as a technology partner for the OranjeWind offshore wind project (Hollandse Kust West VII) in the Netherlands. Within the project’s planned innovation and system-integration programme, Verlume’s contribution related to an offshore technology demonstration intended to accelerate the commercial application of new solutions in an operational wind-farm environment. Specifically, the partners stated that OranjeWind was to demonstrate a seabed battery system developed in cooperation with Verlume. This indicates Verlume’s role in the development and/or provision of the seabed battery solution that would be trialled offshore as part of the wind farm’s broader objective of better matching intermittent renewable generation with flexible energy demand and supporting grid stability. The involvement was communicated in RWE’s press release announcing the joint implementation of the 795 MW OranjeWind project, with offshore construction scheduled to start in 2026 and full commissioning expected in early 2028. The seabed battery demonstration sat alongside other innovation demonstrations referenced by the partners in the same announcement, positioning Verlume as an innovator contributing to offshore energy system integration for the project during the construction and early operational demonstration phase.
