Vestas Offshore Wind

Ecowende selected Vestas as the wind turbine supplier for the Hollandse Kust (west) site VI offshore wind farm (Ecowende), located around 53 kilometres off the Dutch coast near IJmuiden. Under the agreement, Vestas was to supply 52 offshore wind turbines of the V236-15.0 MW type for the 760 MW project. The cooperation agreement was signed on 19 December 2023 and publicly announced on 22 December 2023. In addition to turbine supply, Vestas was also to provide a long-term service package covering operations and maintenance of the turbines for 15 years, intended to support optimised performance of the assets across the initial operating period. The project’s ecology-led tender commitments were reflected in the turbine scope, with references to integrating bird and bat detection/deterrence systems and supporting the wind farm’s nature-inclusive layout measures such as a designated bird corridor. Turbine offshore installation was expected to begin in 2026, with commissioning targeted before the end of 2026, aligning the turbine delivery and service start with Ecowende’s construction programme and grid connection capacity of 760 MW.
