designing, procuring and laying the connecting cables between the wind turbines; inter-array cables at 66 kV (array)
Van Oord was selected by Ecowende as the marine contractor for the offshore construction of the Hollandse Kust (west) Site VI project (Ecowende), located around 53 km off the coast of IJmuiden in the Dutch North Sea. Under this offshore transport and installation scope, Van Oord was responsible for transporting and installing the wind farm’s monopile foundations and for delivering associated foundation works such as scour protection installation. Van Oord’s contract scope also covered the inter-array cable package inside the wind farm. This included designing the connecting subsea cables between turbines, procuring the required cable system, and laying the inter-array cables offshore. The inter-array system was described as the set of connecting cables between the wind turbines that links the array to the offshore substation within the project. In addition, Van Oord was responsible for transporting and installing the wind turbine generators at the offshore site. The overall project configuration referenced in the sources comprised 52 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines supported by 52 monopile foundations, with offshore construction activities scheduled to progress through 2025–2026 as the project moved into its main installation phase.
