termination and testing of 52 66 kV inter-array cables (IACs); 52 WTGs, 1 OSS
SPIE Wind Connect (part of SPIE) was awarded a contract by Van Oord to perform termination and testing activities for the inter-array cable system at Ecowende’s Hollandse Kust (west) lot VI offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. The work package covered offshore termination and testing of the 66 kV inter-array cables that connect the wind turbines within the array and link the strings into the project’s offshore substation interface. The scope described by SPIE Wind Connect included preparation and execution activities beginning with mock-up work planned for Q2 2025, followed by offshore works commencing in April 2026. SPIE Wind Connect’s termination and testing scope was defined across the wind farm’s electrical collection system, referenced as 52 wind turbine generators and one offshore substation, arranged in 12 strings. This package formed part of the overall offshore construction campaign managed by Van Oord as Ecowende’s marine contractor, supporting commissioning readiness of the 66 kV inter-array network by completing cable end terminations and associated electrical testing on the offshore assets.
