HUB Ocean partnered with Ecowende to enable open access to ecology data associated with Hollandse Kust (west) site VI (Ecowende). The partnership was framed by Ecowende as a landmark agreement to make ecology data publicly accessible through HUB Ocean’s Ocean Data Platform, supporting a new standard for transparency in offshore wind ecological monitoring and research. HUB Ocean’s role related to digital data infrastructure and data-sharing enablement, helping to provide a mechanism for publishing and distributing ecological datasets generated by the project’s monitoring and research programmes. This supported Ecowende’s broader ambition to develop, build, and operate the offshore wind farm in a way that positively contributes to North Sea ecology, while also creating transferable learnings for future projects. The data-sharing collaboration complemented Ecowende’s wider ecosystem of monitoring and analytics partners, including the creation of an Ecology Data Repository. Together, these initiatives were intended to improve the accessibility, consistency, and long-term value of ecological datasets, enabling researchers, stakeholders, and industry participants to use the information for assessment of impacts, validation of mitigation measures, and development of improved nature-inclusive offshore wind practices.
