Fugro partnered with Ecowende to deliver a full suite of geo-data and pre-construction survey services for the Hollandse Kust (west) Site VI offshore wind farm. Fugro’s scope covered integrated site characterisation activities, combining geotechnical site investigation, geophysical survey work and unexploded ordnance (UXO) investigations to support safe, timely offshore construction planning and to provide design inputs for the project. For the geotechnical programme, Fugro carried out seabed cone penetration tests (CPTs) to inform foundation design and installation calculations, targeting depths of roughly 40–50 metres. The campaign referenced Fugro’s SEACALF® MkV Deep Drive® approach to increase CPT penetration and reduce the need for time-intensive drill-out CPT operations, helping to shorten offshore time and reduce vessel footprint. Fugro also executed UXO risk mitigation surveys using specialist sensors and tooling (including multibeam echo sounders, side-scan sonar and magnetometer configurations), supported by vessels and work-class ROVs for item investigation. In addition, Fugro acquired ecological data within the same campaign, enabling pre-construction mapping of seabed habitats such as sabellaria reefs and sandwave environments relevant to Ecowende’s nature-inclusive design and monitoring ambitions.
