Cognite was selected by Ecowende to build and operate the Ecology Data Repository (EDR) for Hollandse Kust (west) site VI (Ecowende), the 760 MW offshore wind farm off IJmuiden. The EDR was intended to support Ecowende’s extensive ecology programme by creating a structured, scalable digital platform for managing and using ecological datasets collected before and during construction and through operations. Cognite’s scope focused on the digital systems layer: establishing the repository architecture, enabling secure ingestion and organisation of monitoring and survey data, and supporting the operational use of data for analysis and reporting. The platform was designed to support collaboration across Ecowende’s partner network and to enable efficient handling of multi-source datasets arising from bird, bat, seabed, and broader biodiversity monitoring activities. The EDR initiative also aligned with Ecowende’s stated ambition to improve transparency and knowledge transfer for nature-inclusive offshore wind. By building a dedicated data repository capability, Cognite supported Ecowende’s ability to consolidate ecological evidence, track outcomes against ecological objectives, and create a foundation for sharing learnings that could be applied to future offshore wind projects. The engagement was positioned as a key enabler for digitalisation of biodiversity monitoring and evidence-led ecological innovation within the project.
