PanGeo Subsea (a Kraken Robotics company) was selected by NextGeo in April 2022 to deliver a detailed sub-bottom imaging (SBI) survey on the Hollandse Kust West Beta (HKWb) offshore grid connection cable routes in the Dutch North Sea. The work focused on the area around the Baloeran wreck, located close to the planned cable routes from TenneT's HKW Beta offshore platform to landfall at Wijk aan Zee, where high-resolution subsurface imaging was needed to characterise subsea conditions beneath the seabed. PanGeo Subsea's Sub-Bottom Imager technology employs beamforming synthetic-aperture sonar arrays to generate real-time, three-dimensional imagery of the sub-seabed. The dataset supported NextGeo's wider geophysical and geotechnical survey of the HKW Beta cable corridor for TenneT, providing detailed input to route engineering and cable installation planning in a constrained area near a known seabed obstruction. PanGeo's scope was a subcontract under NextGeo's prime survey contract with TenneT; it served the HKW Beta offshore grid connection rather than the connected Hollandse Kust West VII (OranjeWind) wind farm's own pre-construction survey programme.
