On 1 June 2023, the Equans–Smulders joint venture handed over the completed Hollandse Kust Noord 700 MW offshore transformer platform to TenneT, with the Taking-Over certificate signed following successful engineering, procurement, construction, installation, offshore hook-up and commissioning. The handover marked formal commissioning of the standardised TenneT 220 kV AC offshore substation — the first of three Equans–Smulders platforms for TenneT — and enabled commercial power flows from the CrossWind 759 MW wind farm to the Dutch onshore grid at Beverwijk.
