Offshore construction on the Hollandse Kust Noord 220 kV AC offshore grid connection began in spring 2022 when Jan De Nul Group's cable laying vessel Isaac Newton — having loaded the cables from consortium partner LS Cable & System at their Donghae, South Korea fabrication site — arrived in the Netherlands and installed four export sea cables starting from the beach landfall at Heemskerk. The campaign used Jan De Nul's custom-built tracked vertical injector Moonfish for nearshore burial up to 8 m below seabed and trencher UTV1200 for offshore burial, supported by the multipurpose vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant. The offshore substation jacket foundation was also installed in 2022 ahead of the topside touchdown in October. Offshore construction continued through to grid-ready certification on 31 March 2023 and TenneT's platform takeover on 1 June 2023.
