Oceans of Energy worked with CrossWind to deliver and install a large floating offshore solar system inside the Hollandse Kust Noord (HKN) offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea. The activity formed part of CrossWind’s innovation programme at the site and was presented as a first-of-its-kind offshore solar-plus-wind integration effort within an operating wind farm area. The installation took place in the summer of 2025 and comprised an offshore floating solar array consisting of approximately 1,400 solar panels. The stated objective of the project was to explore whether additional power generation could be achieved during periods with little or no wind by co-locating floating solar with offshore wind assets. Within this engagement, Oceans of Energy’s role was associated with the offshore solar demonstrator’s deployment and integration at the wind farm location, supporting CrossWind’s broader programme of testing technologies intended to increase the reliability and system value of offshore renewable generation.
