Marine Coordination Services BV (MCS) was contracted by Van Oord to organise and support marine transportation and installation operations during construction of the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm for developer CrossWind. Under the agreement, MCS provided remote marine coordination services from its Marine Coordination Centre (MCC) in Terschelling, monitoring and coordinating vessel traffic and logistics between ports and the offshore construction site as well as activities inside the site. The scope covered the coordination of Van Oord’s offshore installation vessels, support vessels, and crew transfers used for the Balance of Plant works, including foundation, inter-array cable, and turbine transport and installation operations executed by Van Oord. The services were structured in two activity phases, with Phase 1 and Phase 2 running from August 2022 through September 2023. In addition to its remote MCC services, MCS was positioned to provide local logistics and marine coordination support from the strategically located ports of IJmuiden and Eemshaven. The source also noted that MCS had joined forces with offshore logistics provider DHSS to enhance its ability to support operations, including the potential deployment and coordination of helicopters as part of overall marine logistics support for the project.
