In summer 2025, CrossWind and Oceans of Energy completed the installation of a large floating offshore solar system within the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm as part of CrossWind’s innovation programme. The system consists of around 1,400 floating solar panels located among the turbines, and is intended to test whether offshore solar can complement wind power by generating electricity during periods with little or no wind. This operational-phase innovation forms part of efforts to enhance the consistency and reliability of renewable power output from the Hollandse Kust Noord site.
