Offshore construction on the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm began in mid-October 2022, when Van Oord — as Balance of Plant contractor to CrossWind — installed the first of 70 TP-less monopile foundations 18.5 km off the Dutch coast near Egmond aan Zee. Van Oord deployed DEME's jack-up vessel Innovation for the monopile installation campaign and used its own fallpipe vessel Nordnes for scour-protection placement around each foundation. Van Oord's project director Roeland Ris noted that monopile installation started about 10 weeks earlier than originally planned. Offshore construction continued through to BoP completion on 4 December 2023, with commercial operations declared on 20 December 2023.
