On 10 April 2025, CrossWind announced completion of construction of the Base Load Power Hub (BLPH), an innovation platform combining a 2.5 MW electrolyser, hydrogen storage and conversion back to electricity, and a 5 MWh battery storage system. The installation measures 19 by 41 metres and weighs approximately 2,200 tonnes. Final commissioning tests were completed at the Rosetti Marino Group yard in Italy ahead of transport to the Netherlands. The platform was planned to be set up in Eemshaven during summer 2025, after which ownership would transfer to offshore innovation company DOT (Delft Offshore Turbine), in agreement with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), for collaborative hydrogen research with Groningen Seaports and TNO. The BLPH is part of CrossWind's innovation programme demonstrating energy time-shifting solutions that could stabilise output from offshore wind farms.
