Project documentation for the Groix & Belle-Île floating offshore wind farm indicated that the 28.5 MW pilot array off Brittany was expected to be commissioned and enter service in 2022, following construction starting around 2020. The three-turbine project, using MHI Vestas V164-9.5 MW machines on Naval Energies semi-submersible floaters about 22 km from the French coast, was planned to supply electricity to roughly 20,000 households via a grid connection to RTE’s Kerhellegant substation in Plouharnel.
