On 16–17 October 2025, executives from Greek TSO IPTO (ADMIE) and Italian TSO Terna held the first working meeting of the joint Steering and Governance Committee (SGC) for the GRITA 2 Italy–Greece HVDC interconnection in Rome, activating the joint governance structure established under the May 2025 IPTO–Terna Memorandum of Understanding. The committee reviewed the roadmap for tendering and licensing procedures, advanced negotiations on financial aspects (including joint procurement policies and detailed preliminary cost estimation), and confirmed the imminent launch of the public tender for preliminary seabed surveys. The SGC also confirmed that IPTO and Terna would assign all studies required for environmental permitting, and discussed sequencing of the future major tenders for converter station construction and HVDC power cable procurement. The SGC meeting represented the first concrete operational step under the May 2025 MoU governance framework and demonstrates accelerating project maturity ahead of the 2028 design/permitting/EPC procurement phase indicated on IPTO's published timeline.
