Offshore environmental baseline measurement campaigns for the initial state of the environment in the Golfe de Fos area started in October 2023 as part of the 2022–2025 knowledge studies supporting the Golfe de Fos 2 floating offshore wind project. These state-led campaigns cover a broad set of parameters, including water and sediment quality sampling, benthic habitat investigations using towed video cameras and/or remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), scientific fishing, underwater noise recordings, visual and vessel-based observations of seabirds and marine mammals, and telemetry tracking of birds. The collected data are used to establish the initial environmental state that will later support project impact assessments and permitting.
