On 31 July 2013, the BSH issued the final SeeAnlV Änderung to the Gode Wind 2 Genehmigung, reducing the consented layout from 80 turbines (480 MW) to 42 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 turbines (336 MW max nominal capacity) on monopile foundations. Dong Energy (now Ørsted), which had acquired the project from PNE Wind in August 2012, applied for the amendment on 5 February 2013. The carved-off remainder of the original planning area became the separately-tracked Gode Wind 4 project. Dong Energy also replaced the originally selected Vestas turbines (84 WEA contract signed March 2011) with the gearless 6 MW Siemens SWT-6.0-154 units in November 2013. The amendment locked in the as-built configuration that entered operation in 2017.
