Siemens was contracted on the 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea to deliver the project’s wind turbine package. The scope covered constructing and commissioning the full set of 150 Siemens SW4.0-130 (SWT-4.0-130) turbines installed across the two wind park areas, Buitengaats and ZeeEnergie, located around 85km offshore. The contract included the supply of the turbine generators and associated equipment needed to complete turbine delivery for the project. In addition to supplying the turbines, Siemens’ scope included transporting and installing the turbines offshore and completing commissioning activities to bring the units into operational service. This positioned Siemens as a key delivery party for the generating assets themselves, covering end-to-end turbine delivery through to handover. Siemens also provided long-term support via a maintenance services agreement for the turbine generators, stated as a 15-year service period. This role therefore spanned both the construction phase (turbine supply, installation, and commissioning) and the operations phase (planned and corrective turbine maintenance support over the contracted service term), supporting Gemini’s transition into full operational status in 2017.
