FICG was contracted by Van Oord to design and install Gemini’s substation package. The contract scope covered three high-voltage substations for the 600MW Gemini offshore wind project in the Netherlands: two offshore high-voltage substations (one for each of Gemini’s two wind parks) and one high-voltage onshore substation in the Netherlands. Under the reported EUR 150 million order, FICG’s responsibilities included the engineering and installation works required to deliver the offshore collector substations and the onshore grid interface substation. The work was scheduled for completion and installation by the end of 2016, supporting the overall construction programme for Gemini. The article described FICG as a consortium made up of engineering firms CG and Cofely Fabricom alongside steel construction company Iemants, operating under the FICG name for this substation contract. Van Oord acted as the contracting party for FICG within the broader engineering, procurement and construction effort to build the Gemini project.
