Following the June 2024 export cable damage that took one of Gemini's two 220 kV AC export cables out of service, the repair campaign — including subsea cable jointing by NKT, project management by RG-projecten and coordination with Rijkswaterstaat and the project insurers — was completed and the cable was successfully repaired and energised on 4 September 2024, bringing the 600 MW Gemini offshore wind farm back to full operations safely and without incident. Throughout the outage the project's surviving second export cable continued to transport power to the onshore transformer station at Eemshaven. Northland Power, Gemini's 60% owner, disclosed the milestone in its Q3 2024 results filed on 13 November 2024 and characterised the event as isolated.
