Installation of the two offshore high-voltage substation (OHVS) topsides at the Gemini offshore wind farm was completed in late August and early September 2015, with both 220 kV collector platforms lifted onto pre-installed jacket foundations at the Buitengaats (300 MW) and ZeeEnergie (300 MW) sites located approximately 85 km off the Dutch coast. The first OHVS topside was placed on top of its jacket foundation in late August 2015, followed by the second platform within the first days of September 2015, completing the lifting campaign for both substations across the two adjacent wind farm sections. The OHVS topsides were designed and installed under a €150 million subcontract awarded by EPC contractor Van Oord in June 2014 to a consortium comprising CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Cofely Fabricom (now ENGIE Fabricom) and steel constructor Lemants (the FICG consortium). Each platform aggregates the output from 75 Siemens SWT-4.0-130 turbines via 33 kV inter-array cables and steps it up to 220 kV for transmission via the dedicated AC export cables to the onshore transformer station at Eemshaven seaport.
