Eolink developed the floating wind turbine mooring system for the France Atlantique 5 MW floating demonstrator at the SEM-REV offshore test site operated by the OPEN-C Foundation. The article reports that the installation of the mooring system (including the site’s mooring anchors and bottom chains) was completed in 2023 as an early construction milestone, enabling subsequent preparation of the turbine unit for deployment at SEM-REV. Eolink was also responsible for the steel floating foundation and related superstructures for the demonstrator. The company was reported to be finalising preparations for a construction site at the Marine Renewable Energy terminal of the Port of Brest, with assembly of the steel floater and the pyramidal superstructures scheduled to begin in 2025. The floating structure is described as a square platform measuring 52 metres on each side and topped with a pyramidal superstructure, forming the core support for the single turbine demonstrator. Following assembly, the floater was expected to be equipped with the wind turbine components in Brest ahead of launch and tow-out to SEM-REV and subsequent grid connection via the test-site infrastructure.
