Dai-Han acted as a South Korean supply partner to LeBéon Manufacturing for the Floatgen floating wind demonstrator’s innovative mooring system. In this arrangement, Dai-Han provided the chain parts used in the end sections of the semi-taut mooring lines, where traditional mooring chain was required at the interfaces to the seabed anchors and to the floating foundation’s anchorage points. The mooring system for Floatgen comprised six semi-taut lines (with catenary behaviour) with overall line lengths stated as roughly 400–600 metres per line. While the main span of each line used nylon rope, the chain components supplied by Dai-Han formed a critical part of the hybrid configuration, supporting permanent station-keeping performance for the 2 MW floating demonstrator installed at the SEM-REV test site off Le Croisic. The article described this hybrid nylon-and-chain configuration as a world first for a permanent mooring system of this size. Dai-Han’s contribution was therefore part of the construction-phase supply chain for the Floatgen mooring package, supporting the delivery of mooring-line chain components integrated by the primary mooring-system supplier, LeBéon Manufacturing.
