RSK Group (United Kingdom) acted as a consortium partner on the Floatgen floating offshore wind demonstrator project and was responsible for the floating system’s environmental impact analysis. This scope covered assessing and documenting environmental impacts associated with deploying and operating the floating wind turbine system, as part of the project’s broader validation programme under real-world offshore conditions. Floatgen was a European-funded demonstrator project (reported as a €25 million project) involving a seven-partner consortium. The demonstrator comprised a 2 MW turbine installed on a floating foundation and was intended to be towed to and tested at the SEM-REV offshore test site off Le Croisic, where it would be connected to the onshore grid via the site’s dedicated power cable. Within this multi-partner framework, RSK Group’s environmental work supported the project’s research and testing activities by addressing environmental considerations linked to the floating system deployment and operation at the test site.
