Euskalforging signed a contract to fabricate and deliver all flanges for the Floatgen floating wind demonstration project in France. The scope covered flange components to be integrated into both the floating foundation and the wind turbine tower. For the foundation, Euskalforging was to supply a large flange with an outer diameter of 5,200 mm that would be incorporated into the Damping Pool floating foundation concept used on the project. For the turbine tower, the company was to manufacture and deliver multiple tower flanges with outer diameters ranging from 3,919 mm up to 5,200 mm. The flanges were therefore positioned as critical forged interface components supporting structural assembly of the tower sections and the floating foundation system. The award was reported while Floatgen was under construction in the port of Saint-Nazaire and ahead of planned float-out and commissioning milestones. The contract related directly to the single-unit demonstrator that paired a Vestas V80 turbine with Ideol’s square ring-shaped Damping Pool floating foundation and was intended to support the build and integration of these structures for deployment at the SEM-REV offshore test site.
