In summer 2015, the electricity export cable for Centrale Nantes’ SEM-REV offshore experimental site was installed on the test area. This subsea export cable connects the SEM-REV test site, where the Floatgen 2 MW floating wind turbine would later be installed, to the onshore power grid. Its installation completed the offshore export cable laying required to enable future prototypes at SEM-REV, including Floatgen, to transmit electricity generated at sea back to shore for testing and grid injection.
