In April 2018, FAB Link Limited received confirmation of a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) securing property rights along the onshore HVDC cable route in East Devon. The CPO covers the corridor needed for the underground cable installation between the Budleigh Salterton landfall and the converter station near Exeter airport, including transition joint bays and any working corridors required during construction. Confirmation of the CPO follows the Secretary of State's consideration of any objections from affected landowners and closes out the final outstanding land-acquisition risk on the GB onshore route. The order does not authorise the works themselves, which sit under the separate planning and marine licences, but unlocks the developer's ability to enter the underground cable corridor when construction proceeds.
