In February 2022, FAB Link Limited and RTE, the project promoters for the FAB interconnector, entered into an agreement to review and reassess the project after a multi-year hiatus following the 2018 pause and Brexit uncertainties. The aim of the exercise was to provide updated project information to the British and French regulators within the next year and to seek their support for resuming the project. Provisional key dates set as part of the reset targeted a Final Investment Decision by the end of 2025 and Commercial Operation by the end of 2028. Project Director James Dickson described the agreement as a "welcome development for the project following a long waiting period" while signalling cautious optimism. The 2022 reset led directly to Ofgem's March 2022 needs-case decision, the November 2022 retention of the cap-and-floor regime in principle, the 2022 final route selection bypassing Alderney, and the 2023 capacity revision to 1,250 MW.
