Offshore construction for EFGL effectively started in May 2024 with the launch of submarine export cable installation by RTE — the first offshore works at the project site. RTE's May 2024 press release confirmed the start of submarine cable installation works for the EFGL grid connection (~16 km from site to the Salanques onshore substation, 66 kV direct MVAC). Floater fabrication and turbine integration at port followed; foundation installation at site occurred in summer 2025.
