On 3 November 2016, the Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) project off Leucate and Le Barcarès was declared laureate of the French state’s EolFlo call for pilot floating wind farms under the Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir (PIA) demonstrator scheme. This selection brought state and regional Occitanie financial support to develop the pilot floating wind farm and is later referenced as including backing from ADEME alongside other financiers.
