Between July and September 2024, Fugro carried out a combined geotechnical and geophysical ground investigation campaign at the Dunkerque offshore wind farm site for Éoliennes en Mer de Dunkerque (EMD). The work used the Excalibur jack-up barge with a purpose-built flexi-deck and combined cone penetration tests (including seismic CPT), pseudo-static load tests, continuous coring, downhole geophysics (checkshot, seismic velocity, gamma logging) and laboratory soil testing. The campaign characterised the complex sandbank-influenced subsurface (Binnen Ratel Bank, Dyck Oriental) and produced the geotechnical and geophysical dataset required to finalise monopile foundation design for the 46-turbine project.
