In December 2024 (5 December), RTE signed an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract worth approximately €320 million with Chantiers de l'Atlantique for the offshore substation of the 600 MW Dunkerque offshore wind farm. Under the turnkey contract, Chantiers de l'Atlantique is responsible for the design, fabrication, assembly and offshore installation of the HVAC offshore substation. The topside is assembled at Saint-Nazaire while the jacket foundations are fabricated at the Fos-sur-Mer yard. The substation is the key grid-connection hub between the inter-array 66 kV network and the 225 kV HVAC export link to the Mardyck onshore substation. Operation is expected by 2029.
