In July 2024, Fugro commenced geotechnical investigations at the Dunkerque offshore wind farm site for Éoliennes en Mer de Dunkerque (EMD), using cone penetration tests (including seismic CPT), pseudo-static load tests, continuous sampling and coring, and laboratory soil testing to obtain detailed information on soil strength, compressibility and dynamic response needed for turbine foundation design. The work was executed offshore from the Excalibur jack-up barge using a purpose-built flexi-deck system to enable efficient and safe operations.
