As part of the North Sea Programme 2022–2027 partial review, the Dutch government expanded the Doordewind wind farm zone with a new westward extension referred to as Doordewind (west). The draft Concept Note on Scope and Level of Detail for the environmental impact assessment describes wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 4–4.6 GW in the already designated Doordewind zone and this additional expansion area, and notes that the complete, adapted zone (including the westward extension) is now incorporated in the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap towards 21 GW by 2032.
