On 20 March 2026, Minister Karremans (Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) submitted the adopted Partieel Herziene Programma Noordzee 2022–2027 (March 2026 version) to the Tweede Kamer. The revised programme formally reconfirms ("herbevestigt") Doordewind as a wind energy area with an adjusted shape and a westward extension: in addition to the already-planned 2 GW kavel (part of the 21 GW Routekaart), Doordewind now provides space for approximately 2 GW extra, bringing the contiguous zone to around 4 GW. The southern strip of the area was removed for shipping safety and the western extension was added to align with the adjacent shipping route and German wind farm development. Lagelander was dropped from the programme (no longer a wind energy area or search area), while Doordewind, Search Area 6/7, and the existing zones are reaffirmed. The capacity figure remains indicative pending ecological research and kavelbesluit-stage detailing; the document keeps the option open to refine extent and timing. This adoption transitions Doordewind (west) from the draft Concept-NRD stage (October 2025) into the formally-adopted national spatial framework for the Dutch North Sea, paving the way for subsequent kavelbesluit procedures for the additional ~2 GW.
