On 24 January 2025, Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) opened a transboundary public participation process for the environmental impact assessment of the Doordewind offshore wind development, specifically offshore wind farm Site I in the Doordewind wind energy area in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone of the North Sea. The consultation follows receipt, on 23 December 2024, of the Dutch Ministry of Climate Policy’s draft memorandum on the scope and level of detail for the EIA. BSH announced that information on the planned project would be available on its website for public participation from 24 January 2025 until 4 March 2025, enabling stakeholders in Germany to review documents and provide comments under Section 59(1) of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act.
