On 6 February 2024, Fugro announced it had been awarded the geophysical survey contract for development of the Dutch Doordewind offshore wind farm zone, led by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The award is based on Fugro’s innovative 2D ultra‑ultra‑high resolution (UUHR) geophysical survey approach, which delivers very high‑quality subsurface data. Fieldwork will be performed using Fugro’s geophysical vessel Fugro Pioneer equipped with customised digital streamers, processing technology, and decimetre‑accuracy positioning systems to execute the 2D UUHR surveys. The resulting data will support detailed ground modelling and interpretation of near‑surface geology to inform future geotechnical investigations and the design of the offshore wind farms and installations in the Doordewind zone, which is located about 77 km off the Dutch north coast and planned for a total capacity of 4 GW across two 2 GW sites.
