about 175 km of 66 kV three core XLPE submarine inter-array cables and related accessories for Borssele III & IV
Prysmian Group was awarded a contract by Van Oord Offshore Wind B.V. to develop the submarine inter-array cable system for the Borssele III & IV offshore wind farms (Blauwwind consortium) in the Dutch North Sea. The scope covered the electrical design and engineering of the inter-array cable system and the provision of the associated accessories required for a complete 66 kV array network. Under the contract, Prysmian was responsible for the manufacture, supply, and testing of about 175 km of 66 kV three-core submarine cables with XLPE insulation, supplied in multiple conductor cross-sections to suit the wind farm’s internal collection system requirements. In addition to the main cable supply, Prysmian provided the related cable accessories needed to complete the inter-array system. The cables were produced at Prysmian’s subsea cable manufacturing centre in Pikkala, Finland, with deliveries planned to support the offshore construction programme and cable installation campaign that commenced in early 2020. The supplied 66 kV inter-array system formed the internal electrical infrastructure connecting the project’s turbines and feeding power towards the offshore substation interface for onward transmission to the grid connection managed separately by the offshore TSO platform.
