Ørsted awarded DNV GL Danmark A/S a contract to provide project certification services for the Borssele 1 and 2 offshore wind zone in the Dutch North Sea, around 22 km off the coast of Zeeland. The certification scope included reviewing whether the assessment of site conditions had been carried out and documented adequately, supporting Ørsted’s conformity and risk-management process for the project. DNV GL’s work included verifying that the project design basis was sufficient and properly documented to support a safe design. DNV GL also evaluated whether site-specific loads and load effects were derived in conformity with the design basis, including performing an independent load analysis (ILA). In addition, DNV GL verified that the support structure design, including bolted connections, complied with applicable codes and standards as well as the design basis and ILA results. As part of the certification interface review, DNV GL verified the interfaces between the Type Certificate, the independent load analysis and the Support Structure Design Evaluation. The assessments were to be conducted in compliance with IEC 61400-22, aligning certification activities with the project’s design verification requirements during the construction development phase.
