On 5 July 2016, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, awarded Ørsted Borssele 1 B.V. (then DONG Energy) the subsidy and permits for Borssele Wind Farm Sites I and II, giving the developer the necessary project-wide development consent to build the 752 MW offshore wind farm more than 22 kilometres off the Zeeland coast.
