Ørsted formally inaugurated the 752 MW Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm on 6 September 2021, about a year after all 94 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines had been installed and the project fully commissioned in December 2020. The inauguration, delayed several times due to COVID-19 restrictions, marked the official celebration of the Netherlands’ then-largest operational offshore wind farm, which supplies enough green electricity to power around one million Dutch households.
