By June 2025, BESSAC had completed the second and main forage of the Seignosse landfall microtunnel in the Landes for the Bay of Biscay HVDC interconnection. The Seignosse landfall is composed of two consecutive microtunnels: a first 300-metre forage between the former pisciculture site and the beach car-park (April–June 2024), then a second 1,350-metre forage between the former pisciculture and the exit to the ocean (November 2024–June 2025). Both forages were executed by BESSAC under its general contractor scope to Prysmian Powerlink, using microtunnelling boring machines (MTBMs) with an internal tunnel diameter of 2,300 mm to pass at more than 10 metres depth beneath the dune. With the second forage closed in June 2025 the Seignosse landfall is ready for the future shore-crossing of the submarine HVDC and fibre-optic cables planned for spring 2026.
