Smulders was awarded a contract by Equinor and Polenergia’s joint venture companies to deliver the offshore substation package for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea. For Bałtyk 3, this scope corresponded to one complete offshore substation (topsides and jacket), supporting the project’s planned 720 MW build-out and providing the offshore collection and transformation point for power export to shore. Smulders’ responsibilities covered the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the topsides and supporting jacket structures. The contract scope explicitly excluded the high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems, which were to be provided by an Equinor subcontractor. Work was executed across Smulders’ manufacturing footprint, with production in Belgium and final topside assembly at the Smulders yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and jacket fabrication progressing at Smulders’ Newcastle yard. The engagement was positioned as part of the build-phase delivery of Bałtyk 3’s offshore electrical infrastructure and included readiness for load-out and subsequent installation activities by others.
