Smulders is the sole contractor for the design, procurement and construction of the Bałtyk 2 offshore substation (topside + jacket), under a contract awarded by the Equinor–Polenergia joint venture for both Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 (each project receives one dedicated substation). Smulders is responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the topside and jacket, excluding the high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems, which are provided by an Equinor subcontractor (Hitachi Energy under a separate electrical systems contract). The Bałtyk 2 topside measures approximately 51 × 38 × 43 metres and weighs approximately 3,700 tonnes; the jacket is built at Smulders' UK fabrication facility in Newcastle, with secondary steel produced at Smulders' Poland facilities and final topside assembly at the Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands. Production work is carried out at Smulders' Belgian facilities, with final topside assembly in Vlissingen. As of April 2026, the Bałtyk 2 topside had been rolled out of the production hall, was positioned outdoors and was undergoing outfitting works ahead of offshore transport. Smulders is also part of the separate consortium with Sif manufacturing the project's 100 monopile transition pieces (recorded under a separate role).
