Hitachi Energy was awarded the electrical-system integrator scope for the MFW Bałtyk II offshore wind farm in January 2023 under a contract covering both MFW Bałtyk II and MFW Bałtyk III. This scope is distinct from Hitachi Energy's separate role manufacturing and installing the two onshore substations at Pęplino near Ustka (December 2022 award) — that role covers ONS physical delivery, while this one covers integrated electrical-system design and digital control/communications across the whole wind farm. The contract scope covers electrical system design from the wind turbines through the inter-array cable system, offshore substation, export cable and onshore substation through to the point of connection into the Polish transmission grid at the PSE Słupsk-Wierzbięcino 400 kV substation. The work includes grid-code compliant studies, system integration analysis, and coordination with other contractors whose equipment connects into the overall electrical system, ensuring a safe, cost-optimal and stable overall transmission system. In addition to grid-connection engineering, Hitachi Energy delivers the overall power control system (SCADA) and the overall telecommunications network across the Bałtyk 2 wind farm — making it the integrator for the end-to-end electrical and digital control layers that enable reliable operation and Polish Grid Code compliance.
